My First Concrete Mixer- July 1958

According to my diary I purchased my first concrete mixer from Philips the local builders merchant, now Jewsons of Wallingford, on the 19th July 1958 cost £15.  The purchase made life easier but only just, the little concrete mixer was a simple round drum system, very slow and not very efficient, aggregate and cement had only to be lifted once into the drum while revolving slowly mixing the contents. The process was no faster than mixing by hand but far less tiring, all paving production was still produced on the only concrete casting base limiting production to only 10 paving slabs per day this obviously had to improve.
