New production systems 1963-part one
At last after four long years of full and part time employment in the summer of 1963 we built our first dedicated production building. The building was fabricated in sections and erected on site, three phase electricity was installed enabling us to install a new Creteangle concrete mixer for all our production needs. New steel moulds were purchased for the manufacture of our 24x24x2″ paving slab sales. Concrete was mixed the paving pans were filled and stacked in the curing area, Valor paraffin stoves were lit to create a high curing temperature, the finished paving was then left to cure for 18 hours.
I can still remember that feeling of elation on closing the production doors for the night, I believed I had created a system whereby concrete products could be manufactured 365 days a year in all weather and sold within 4 days of production. The perfect system, little did I realise how I would feel the following morning.
