Wooden Moulds- Summer 1958

During the summer months I began to improve the speed of manufacture, by developing a wooden tiered pallet production system, each pallet measured 30″ x 30″with a de-mould tray placed on the upper surface; this system enabled me to produce 50 no. 24″x24″ paving slabs per day in a very small area.  Production problems still occurred due to bad weather ie low temperature or rainfall, remember all production was being carried out in the open, I still had no way of producing under cover.  Dreams of manufacturing in a building were still a long way off, money was a problem or the lack of it, I was still delivering milk very early in the morning and then continuing to my main work at UKAEA, I still needed other projects to keep me occupied and earning during the winter.
